A poem about a once mighty ruler who finally realizes how foolish his lust for fame and wealth was.

           He was a mighty king

           Who loved his golden sword

           He would do anything

           To conquer all the world.

                        ***

            The sharpness of his blade

            Caused terror beyond measure

            And all those who betrayed

Would die for his own pleasure.

                        ***

           A skilled and ruthless fighter

          Undaunted in his power quest

          He made his kingdom brighter

          Stealing from those he oppressed

                       ***

But in his blind and crazy lust

He never thought to see the day

When his empire would be dust

And he would fall into decay.

                       ***

‘How sad and useless was my life

And how much evil I have done

         I have no son,no friends,no wife

I don’t deserve to see the sun!’

                      ***

‘I have inflicted so much pain

Because I had a heart of ice

I feel that it was all in vain

So now it’s time for my demise!’

                     ***

And so the sword he loved so much

When he felt powerful and well

Took his life with a single touch

Sending his soul straight to hell!

Ruling by fear and terror will eventually lead to the downfall of any kingdom, a better ruler would help his people and not let his ego get the best of him.
