Light hearted poem about a schoolboy’s crush.
The world seemed wonderful,
Abounding with joy,
From the moment she flitted into my life,
So lively and yet so coy.
My eyes never left her,
Mesmerized by her grace,
Her voice so melodious,
So divine her face.
She rested her gaze on me,
But quickly looked elsewhere,
In that moment I realized
That paradise was truly out there.
Everything else was a blur,
She was the only being in sight,
Like a lighthouse in a storm
A singular star on a cloudy night.
I knew she was the one,
Did she also feel this way?
I wanted to ask at once
But Reason told me to wait a day.
Suddenly I snap out of my dream
Did those lips just utter my name?
Through the bizarre uncertainty
I heard her again speak out the same.
My heart leaped with joy
It was not for me in knowing why
My moment had arrived,
The time was now to do or die.
There she was in front of me
Without a shred of inhibition
She encouraged me to reach out to her
Lending wings to my ambition.
The crack of wood against my skin,
Brought me crashing back to reality,
A sense of helplessness dawned,
As my first love went back to teaching Biology.
