                                       The Legend of the Sockate

Yes my children gather round for there are stories to be told,

a legend that seems to be around when socks need to be fold.

The Great Sockate , how did he ever come about?

What makes him such a legend, what is this fuss about?

The Great Sockate once traveled through these lands,

when not a single sock would vanish ,as the were all washed by hand.

He rose to fame in the modern world when drying machines where found,

in would go a a pair but only one would come out!

The Queen of the house was summoned, what magic is this?

She boldly tied them all together and yet still one was amiss!

No one has yet managed to win at Sockates game,

they have all tried to beat him and all have lost the same.

I hear he runs with his Sister The Great Shoe-a-Miss,

along every highway a lone shoe is proof of this.

One day my children you will see that the legend still lives on,

you’ll go to collect your socks and find that one is gone!
