The Lesson of the Glasses

“Hey Jake, check this out!” It was a sunny morning and James and Jake were walking to school. James and Jake have been best friends since nursery school. They live right next to each other and are both in grade 8. It’s the start of mid-term and both boys are ready.

On their way to school they came across these good-looking glasses lying on a bench. James and Jake both took turns on trying them on. In the end they took the glasses since it looked good on them.

At school during math, James was bored and stuck with sums, so he decided to try on the glasses again. When putting them on, he felt a switch on the back of the glasses. He switched the switch on and putted on the glasses. James couldn’t believe what he saw. On the lenses of the glasses, it showed him everything, everyone’s name, what they were doing and thinking. It even showed James how to do the sums when he looked down.

James told Jake about this and they swapped the glasses each day. James’s and Jake’s marks improved tremendously. Everybody didn’t believe what they were seeing because they were getting 100% for everything.

One day at home when James was looking at the glasses, a sentence appeared on it saying “We’re on our way…” James got scared and rushed to Jake’s house to tell him about the scary sentence that disappeared as quickly as it appeared. They couldn’t do anything so they just carried on what they were doing.

The next day after school when James and Jake was walking back from school, they were looking at the glasses when again a sentence appeared on the glasses saying “We see you!” James and Jake got frightened and frantically looked everywhere but couldn’t see anyone. They were extremely scared and puzzled so Jake decided to switch and put on the glasses to check if there was anyone around. As soon as he put it on, he saw zombies everywhere! Jake got such a fright that he fainted. James who couldn’t understand anything that was going on took the glasses from Jake and put them on. James jumped out of his skin and fainted as well.

James and Jake awoke next morning to find themselves on the bench where they first found the glasses. All memories came rushing back. They were frozen to the spot, but then realised a piece of paper lying next to them saying “Do not take what’s not yours, ever again!”
