A poem.

The books are in order now

But are my priorities?

Paperbacks easier to sort than lives

Weeding torn covers and outdated data

Should there be a personal pull list?

Clear out broken friendships, renew old favourites

The furniture matches now

Can my plans fit together so easily?

Make the personal and professional goals mesh

A shiny nametag

Can it tell me who I am?

Quarter-life crisis of identity

Wonderful poem!! I came here because “Library” caught my eye. I am a retired librarian. Sorry if you were here because librarians are not. I confess that is in part why I am here, even though I am retired and do not see librarians on a daily basis. I guess I am an angsty librarian since I recently wrote and published on Triond a poem called “Skyscape Angst”. I hope you will read it.

Librarian or anything else or not, you are a good poet. I must read more by you.

Thanks Amos, I am a librarian but try to keep my poetry separate from my professional life so I don’t have to sensor myself. I read your poem, it’s interesting, thanks for sharing.
