A short poem.
I’m waking up a bit more each day
My eyes are open wider, it’s funny
The complexion appears different
Did you always look that way?
My mind doesn’t necessarily want to let go
Of things I’ve always believed in
But as the landscape and horizon
Continue to expand, I’m left wondering
More often, just what do I really know
That I could ever truly let go
It’s not the same story of
The more you know,
Yes, yes, you know how that goes
It’s more about letting more people
Stay in your life
It’s more about deciding what’s really
The path you can follow
Travel down forever
And ever after
The choices we make today
Do make a difference
The people we choose to spend our days and nights with
Change our hearts, change our spirits
You can’t deny the truth
You always want to choose wisely
Mostly you have let your mind lead the way
But sometimes it’s better
Sometimes it’s okay if you loosen your guarded walls
And, instead allow your heart
To take the lead,
And allow you to create
The life of your dreams.
