English Sonnet.

Where is it now the light you said you saw
So many dreary worn out years ago
When rivers still removed the bitter snow
And allowed a frozen heart to thaw
Where is it now with its sweet afterglow
That light of yours which covered every flaw
And still made time to fill your life with awe
With simple things like words I love you so
It’s time to put away our childish dreams
Such fantasies don’t pay the bills you see
This mirror here will sing what life’s about
And as I stared through long forgotten streams
I saw its empty shadow stare at me
She searches for this light that I put out
