Revelation 5:1-9 tells the account of John wept because none was found who could open the book and read it. But then the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Lion of God, prevailed to open it!

The Lion Hath Prevailed

“Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.” 2 Corinthians 3:1,2

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8

“And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midsts of the elders, stood as a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.” Revelation 5:5-7

Weep not! The Lion hath prevailed

To open thy book and loose its seals.

In all that thy life might entail,

May the touch of God’s Hand be revealed!

This is thy word! Now turn and see

Revealed, the Face of God’s dear Lamb.

Tis He Who daily walks with thee,

Though lions prevail to mar thy name!

Weep not! The Lion is on thy side,

Thou turning to see, on a Lamb doth look,

And Christ, Who is both, will be thy Guide,

As you live your life, an unsealed book!

For Christ may come and take thy book,

His Spirit send forth to all the earth.

And only in Heaven may you look,

On all that God, through you, did birth!

And only asks that you should stand,

And turn thy gaze upon the throne,

Where the Lion prevailed with His Hand,

To loose the book’s unsealed, unknown!

Acts 17:28
