If you see someone who appears to be down, please take the time to speak with them; relieve them of their pain. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll be their hero…

There once was a little girl,

Who just wasn’t like any other little girls.

She was always afraid of the big world;

Going back home to sit

In her bedroom and hide.

She would always look down,

Down at the ground;

Praying to God and asking him when it was

Her turn to say goodbye.

With each passing day the little girl never felt any better;

So she wrote a letter: a letter

Explaining exactly why she wanted to die.

And tears fell from her bloodshot eyes…

She walked along the stained sand,

With a loaded gun in her hand,

And she cried again,

Wondering how long will it be

Before she’d be happy again.

Then she pulled the trigger,

And the lights escaped from her eyes.

Finally, now finally, she got her secret wish:

Her secret wish to die.

Now she was able to fly,

Spread her wings and say goodbye…

Yet tears still fell from her eyes.

The darkness came back, and now

She remains a ghost wandering the earth

Forever.

Who is this lonely girl?

Wandering this earth:

Without a soul; dead, and who always used to sit

Alone.

She wrote letters when nothing was better;

The one who held that loaded gun against

Her head, wishing that she could have sooner pulled the

Trigger and be dead.

So, who is this little lost soul looking for

Someone to love, someone who could even

Love her back…

Even though she receives no response;

A love that would cease to fade away at night.

I’ve fashioned such a story to tell…

To tell you about this little girl,

That that little girl…

Well that little girl is everywhere…

    very sad, that little girl can most certainly be everywhere, when stress gets at you, or abuse does not seem to end

    Too many girls wear blinders against the big open world.

    That little girl is many little girls…wandering in darkness

    i enjoyed this work.

    I may have wanted to see the lines flow just a little better from one to the next…better rhythm. Other than that, it captivated me. It held me here for its entirety.

    What a sad little poem about a very sad little girl. I loved the way you gave the reader the visual to go with!

    Wow..that grips you right to the end. Perhaps the last but one line feels a tad clumsy.

    You’re right, she is everywhere (sadly) I used to wonder if death was really so much better. How do we not know that it isn’t worse or just as bad. Some wish for something but do not truly know what they wish for.

    Come away O, human child
    To the waters and the wild
    With a faery hand in hand,
    For the world’s more full of weaping
    Than you can understand.

    Very sorrowful and touching poem. Many people are represent through the one little girl in your poem. Suicide is a very big problem, one which could be avoided if we all took the time to listen as well as we hear.

    This was a well written and thought out piece of work. You described many little girls, and hopefully they won\\\’t end up with this same fate. Well done.

    A very sad and thought provoking poem. Sad in the sense that there are little girls everywhere that feel this way.
