Sad saga of a medically-challenged hare.

There once was a rabbit that lived in a field near a woods by a pond close to me.
He’d like to marry and have many children but there’s something we just can’t see.
All of the bunnies know him well enough to know that his name is John Thomas
But they’re also aware that so far up till now he hasn’t shown very much promise.

Four litters a year are what rabbits should have and John Thomas knows it too well.
He’s not getting younger so why is he waiting to start making babies, pray tell.
Several young bunnies have fluffed up their cotton tails hoping to get him to play
But he turns around and hops on through the bushes running hard to just get away.

Maybe he’s different,  you know what I mean? says one bunny to another.
I don’t think so.  I’ve asked around.  I’ve even talked at length to his brother.
John Thomas is blue like the pill that he needs.  He hates like the dickens to be
The only buck rabbit that lives in a field near a woods by a pond with E.D.

To my Jewish friends: The letter “t” was unintentionally omitted from the word rabbit in the title dramatically changing its meaning. For that I an very sorry. A fix is in the works.

What ages is our body, but the heart will go on, because it follows the mind for guidance and purpose. In reality, we are here for the experience, and the play. So the sacred books say.

E.D.? could stand for just about anything.
sometimes “we” get caught up in our ideals that, “we” can’t see the ‘forest for the trees’ or in the case of your little rabbit, he had so many choices, he couldn’t make up his mind. And because he didn’t wish to “hurt anyone’s feelings” everyone else was producing where he was not.
And because he “knew what he liked,” the one that could have been his forever, he probably thought of her as a “kid sister”
At least, that’s my interpretation. Right, Wrong or no where near the center.

    Cute story-poem though.
