Wishing star, wish I could wish upon you…
The pale moon hung far away in the west.
Over the slippery darkness of the still black sky,
Slid a white-blue star, laughing in my eyes,
And tracing a sparkling line of milky diamond dust.
I gazed, my tears having just dried,
Wanting my best to wish upon it…
A wish that would make you mine, forever…
But I couldn’t make myself say it.
My heart stayed silent.
It told me, “I can’t let him break her heart for my ends,
I can’t be that cruel, selfish.
And it would hurt him too. No, I can’t do it.”
I stared on at the lost trail,
Muttering “beautiful, beautiful” over and over again,
As both you and my fiery wishing dot walked away,
Out of my life, once again.
