The Love Nest a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A love poem. A love poem about marriage and true love.

The Love Nest

You and him,

him and you.

Your love is found,

love is devine.

You met each other

and locked eyes as one.

And then came the day where

you said “I do.”

The vows were sacred, bound by fate

and then came the day

where you built your nest.

When a man loves a woman

usually it is forever.

But many times it isn’t.

But if your love is strong and unbreakable,

nothing can hurt it.

Jealousy has left the nest.

There is not a doubt that

enters.

Your kisses of passion

linger and grow.

Sometimes you divide

on sour days

when neither one of you

is happy,

but your nest remains

intact and your love is still profound.

You grow, and then suddenly

inside your belly

a new life grows.

Now you know what your nest is for.

You patiently wait

to welcome a new member to the family.

Your nest is warm with your love.

Him and you,

you and him,

know that the child is born

out of your love for each other.

It’s what you have waited for

to become not just a wife,

but a mother.

And finally your sweet baby

arrives and fills the nest.

Beauty enters your life.

A new life waits to be nurtured.

This is very warm-hearted. Indeed, “beauty enters your life.”

    – I think this piece could be even better if you take away the third-person motivational narration and make it personal. When the narrator (the person telling the story) is the main character, and everything is experienced through his/her eyes, the reader-writer connection deepens. Modern poetry is supposed to be personal and nostalgic and buried in the moment anyway, right?

    Thanks for sharing.
