Amusing poem about a maiden and her jugs.

There once was a maiden with jugs.

Her jugs were large, sturdy, and round.

She carried her jugs everywhere.

One firm handle was on each jug.

Sometimes her jugs were full.

Other times her jugs were empty.

The fair maiden often served her jugs to her guests.

Her guests smiled with delight when they saw her jugs.

Thank heaven she had her jugs with her tonight.

She had a big party planned with much entertainment.

During the party, she emptied her jugs into several glasses.

Alas, the beautiful maiden was out of wine.

Poor maiden.

Poor jugs.

For it is said, “Full jugs elate while empty jugs deflate.
