A modern Pygmallion and Galatea.

I am now standing hard as a rock
When my true love came humbly crying back
And what’s left of my heart begin to  crack
Breaking again even if half it lacked…
For how can I console your crying now
Even you strayed from our promised vow
My love for you so stunningly true
Wants to tell you “let us start anew…”
Unable to speak, my lips are sealed
Yet somehow your embrace on me stilled
“I can hear you my love!” your lips did say
“I will now  take the bad spell away!”
You went on “I’m sorry, really I am
But innocent I was compared to them
You were not there to stop my doubting
I was so convinced you’re really cheating…”
“It was because you are trapping me here
I rebelled at that ‘though you hold me dear
So selfish you of not sharing your life
And never really asked me to be your wife…”
“I flirted and I danced but that was all
And love for other men is not my call
But one so ardent forced me to leave you
Else he’ll crush my beloved statue…”
“So with him I went and to my surprise
He’s one who doesn’t have a human eye
He can’t force me to make love to him
In the end his desire turned to dim…”
“He told me that if I believe in you
and that if I can prove my love is true
Then these magic words to you I must tell
But I will be one to break the spell…”
With that you spoke the enchanted words
Whilst pulling out the sharp blade of a  sword
Blood dripping and your dress badly stained
Then I was freed from where I was contained…
Held you in my arms as you gasped for air
I kissed your lips, your face, your nose, your hair
I asked you what did you give as payment
To get me out of solid containment…
You said “Oh my love, I did what you did
Cut out half of my heart to make you breathe
Now they beat as  one in the demon’s den
I’ll give more.. for you to love me again…”
Oh, for the love of  love what would I give
to pass through pain and  to laugh and to grieve
Joyful now after all is said and done
For our hearts are now united as one…

This is undeniably another form of your gift of expression. Indeed consistent with Pygmallion and Galatea. Wonderful and full of feelings.

It doesn’t matter that either gave half their heart to the demon, their love will keep growing, and soon they won’t even notice the loss. A great ending to a stunning piece.

Lovely, I always loved the myth of pygmalion, so this modern version really speaks to me, even though I have a massive phobia of shop window dummies.
