James knows motors front to back.

He will fix your car and save you some cash
Don’t get too frisky and let her crash
Just bring her in and hand him the keys
A handful of tricks are stashed up his  sleeves
This guy don’t brag, he don’t talk no trash
He will tune it up till it’s downright brash
If it slows to a crawl and don’t no way please
He will fix that sucker with the greatest ease
That motor will shine like a silver spoon
Carburetor croon a Willie Nelson tune
Brakes so tight they will stop on a tack
Pay the man, don’t give him no flack
Transmission whining? Give him a call
Motor mounts loose? Don’t let her fall
Haul that motor up and drop it back
He don’t compromise and the deck ain’t stacked

  • Johnny Yuma on Jan 20, 2009

Ruby, this is great. Some mechanics are great, and then there are those that just want the payday and the car to last that long. If you have found a good one hang on to him; they aren\’t easy to come by.

    Dear Ruby
I Loved this poem Ruby. Original creativity on what my Great Aunt used to say ” Poetry is only poetry when you rhyme “. Originally we were also taught that too then poetry evolved but my Great Aunt would still sit there trying to find a way to rhyme in her poetry and she did it well just like you. But yours is fresh, new and would make for a great commercial song for a car shop. Again I really liked your use of words here.
    Love Shelley.

  • TommyP on Jan 21, 2009

    Hi Ruby! Some one else used my “shade tree mechanic” phrase! I was only going to use it ‘Cause the poem had a distinct rural sound and feel to it. Your friend actually has a garage I’m sure! If I were to take my car to him, and he’s as knowledgeable as you say;
He’d say “It’s time to jack up the horn and bolt a new car onto it!!!”

  • Jim Miller on Jan 21, 2009
