Sweet and juicy.
The melon man
His melons are enormous
And juicy and sweet
He uses no machinery
Just his hands and feet
He tends them everyday
He’s on his knees a lot
He has a big field now
Extended out from a very small plot
When he opens his stand
He sells out in a day
His wife and children
All Live in grand style
His parents are proud
Of their only child
He hires day workers
Usually fresh out of jail
He pays them with a long fall
Down his irrigation well
Their decomposition
Nitrifies the water
Their left over remains
Are turned into fresh fodder
People drive in
From surrounding towns
And gasp at the beauty
Of his melon mounds
They watch the special water
As it sprays over the field
Not knowing how many lives
In that water is concealed
He takes a load to church on Sunday
His congregational treat
Enjoy every one
It’s free today, eat all that you can eat
