Where was my cherry?
I woke up this lovely sunny morning
***
As the day was up ready and dawning
***
The shocked look that came to my face
***
Made you quickly run and step up a pace
***
There was rich coffee and sweetened tea
***
Even the lovely buzz, buzz of a bumblebee
***
But where on the tray was my cherry?
***
It must have rolled off, you hastily said
***
I leaned out right over the billowing bed
***
And peered underneath it and on the floor
***
Then I saw my cherry over there by the door
***
You put down the tray and took off at a run
***
Lifting your dressing gown like the skirt of a nun
***
I giggled and whooped as your foot hit the door
***
Sending that cherry down the stair onto the floor
***
You carried on down there after that cherry so red
***
A very funny sight when you banged your head
***
From that day on you vowed to always bring
***
My red delicious cherry in a paisley coloured sling.
