The Monkey And The Crocodile is a poem that I wrote a long time ago and I think is based on the odd coupling of people in general.

The Monkey and The Crocodile

The Monkey and the Crocodile, they were such a funny pair, they roamed about together absolutely everywhere, everywhere they went they wandered they did so without a care, wandering here and wandering there.

Sometimes the Monkey used to swing amongst the trees up so very high, jumping all around, but obviously the Crocodile he stayed upon the ground.

Sometimes the Crocodile would swim in the river and would go off for a small feed, the Monkey could not swim naturally, if he wanted to then monkey diving equipment he would surely need.

Sometimes they would stop and chat together by the riverside, sometimes they would play games, where they would each hide, only problem was they never found each other no matter how hard they tried.

Once they even played a little prank on a passer by in his little boat, soon all that was left was his short black coat and the remainder of his chewed and damaged boat, off he had ran like a scared old goat.

Oh how they had laughed and thought it so much fun, so much joyful fun, that was until he returned with his friends and his shinny big gun, then it was not him but they who had to run.

Now they were safe once more as they walked, oh how they talked, muttering and chatting and discussing everything, it was not long that a new idea did begin.

The Crocodile and the Monkey they were such a funny pair, occasionally passers by would sometimes stop and stare, but the monkey and the crocodile just simply did not care.
