The story of the little Red Indian Girl (Aiyana) who sat by the Mono Lake and was accosted by the Mono Lake Ghost (Tahatan). What happens next…

Aiyana – Eternal Blossom
Tahatan – Stranger.

There she sat waiting,

       Braiding her hair.

              Looking at the water,

                      So calm and so bare.

                                There she sat wondering,

                      What impressed her most.

         The breathtaking beauty

Or the Mono Lake Ghost.

She started basket weaving

       Taking in its charms.

           The lake was but poisonous

                     But created no harm.

                                     It was the significant anthem,

                            Of migratory life.

              Near the Long Valley Volcano

  Southern most band her tribe.

Then came a day,

       When she was late.

          The sun had but gone,

             And sealed in her fate.

                          She sat there pondering

                   Wiping a tear.

Till she heard a mournful cry,

   And looked at the moon.

There she saw standing,

         The Mono Ghost.

                    Toxic yet enchanting,

                        He was playing her host.

                                   He showed her the beauty,

                            The was beyond compare.

                  He described his life duty

          That was impressive but rare.

His name was Stranger,

       The Ghost beyond realms.

The giver of life to many a migrant ranger,

He kept is together under the helms.

He told her to be his,

                     Forever you see.

             But she was but human

      In the great mystery.

 He gave her a message,

          It contained a clue

                 He wanted her badly,

                          To blend one into two.

                  How do I do it,

         Was her scared cry.

  I sit around this place,

Like a noisy fly.

Then take my hand,

      Together we’ll fly.

            Where south meet north,

                   And Alkaline do try.

                            Together they transformed,

                    Into today’s Alkali flies.

            Making impressives memories,

    Amidst Natural cries.

So close to the volanco,

         Upon that rock,

The two flies swam and flew steadily,

                          Without mindful watch.

                                        For Tahatan and Aiyana

Lived on land and the lake.

              They blended together wondrously,

     In whatever it would take.

For the love for each other,

      Trancended land and water.

                 All for the lovely feeling,

                         Of the Tahatan and Aiyana.

                                    For today they are anthems,

                             Of poison and life.

               They speak in unique languages,

    Of life, pain and strife.
