The Mountains in the Distance a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A love poem about Adam and Eve. A poem of temptation and what every man wants.
The Mountains in the Distance
Time stood still for Adam and Eve,
he was a man and had a right to
his desires.
And he waited and waited and was like
so many men on earth.
Always looking, looking, looking
and those mountains in the distance
were glorious and huge.
The twins were great.
Adam watched her every day. Her mountains
were more beautiful than the pristine sun.
He kept watching and hoping,
yet she was always running, running, running
like so many women on earth.
All playing hard to get,
and Adam felt himself rising, higher and harder
every day. Every god damn day. He was
getting hard as a rock.
It wasn’t fair.
Why did Adam have to wait?
He didn’t like it one bit.
Finally, he watched her the day she
grabbed that juicy red apple
from that tree.
He knew she was sinning,
so he ran to his favorite mountains
and held them firmly in his
heated hands and he took control
of his twins and Eve and
she was no longer pure.
And since then,
there has been hot hell here on Earth.
