An absurd dialectic between two paradoxical characters which is in the form of free verse. The poem tries to highlight the senselessness of conflict and the decay of societal values in a world where paradox is paradoxically, the fundamental component.
The Naked and The Blind
Addiction to deadly companions,
The new killer germs of the infinite book.
Beating stress, anxiety and depression,
Driven to innovate the Age of Wonder.
The Blind Watchmaker:
What is Mathematics?
The Mind of God.
Nonplussed by bad science,
On the shoulders of giants,
The Naked Scientist
Built his own house.
The Naked Scientist:
Why the lion grew its mane?
Do cats have bellybuttons?
Do polar bears get lonely?
A clone of your own?
Why is my cat doing that?
I have decoded the Heavens with an ear to the ground.
The truth lies in poisoned lives.
The March of unreason in the spaces of postmodernity.
Strange fruit of poverty and plastic,
This the Earth only endures.
The Naked Scientist:
What next for Nature?
Keeping the lights on.
The Blind Watchmaker:
Eat your heart out on the routes of learning
Through Space and Time to the empire of the stars.
The richness of life lies under
The feet of the chameleon.
The Naked Scientist:
Write your life story in the pastoral mode.
Ten days in the hills,
The Falcon flew with the taint of Midas
Bearing the evidence of love.
‘Twas a hard time to be a father.
Both:
A simple act of violence,
How I wish I had a passport to yesterday!
The Blind Watchmaker:
Blind owls do cry.
The Naked Scientist:
Who is it who can tell me who I am?
Shoot the damn dog?
Shoot the damn dog!
Flow.
