Disappointment is a harsh reality, it’s a wonder we ever hope for anything at all.

Do you hear this song?

It was the one,

That was supposed to play that night.

What night you ask?

The night where,

I had flowers on the bed,

Candles lit all around,

“Love and Basketball” in the DVD player,

And General Tso’s chicken,

On the table,

Ready for us to eat.

I spent the whole day,

Preparing for that night.

I didn’t even have a car,

So I had to get everywhere,

On my own two feet.

But it was all going to be worth it,

Cause I spent the whole day,

Just imagining the smile on your face.

The hour finally came,

When you were supposed to arrive.

I watched the clock,

With eager anticipation.

Tic

Toc

Tic

Toc

Tic

Toc

Sadly that night never happened,

Cause you didn’t come around.

Great poetry and very true. We all have experience this at some point in our lives, whether it was a friend or love one. Spending an entire day getting things prepared for a special evening and the person never show. HEARTBREAKING!!
