Old man Charlie was about eighty-one,

with white hair and bright blue eyes.

But yet Charlie was a very short fellow,

five foot tall and had an Irish accent.

Charlie always had a twinkle in his eyes,

he could smile around his corncob pipe.

His clothes were either black or green,

Charlie doesn’t wear t-shirts or jeans.

On St.Patricks day Charlie is ecstatic,

he eats his corn beef and cabbage then.

Charlie drinks his share of green beer,

his small frame dancing on the bar to.

Some swear Charlie is an odd fellow,

they even call him a spendthrift to.

No one ever sees him put it in a bank,

others swear that he buries it instead.

But they don’t know about Charlie’s secret,

they would not believe it if they knew it.

He is asked if he is a lepracon in disguise,

Charlie shakes his white head and denies it

But in reality Charlie is just as they thought,

a leprecon sent here to watch a pot of gold.

But when the time is right to dig the pot up,

the gold and old Charlie will be long gone.
