Poem/story of an old lady and her old cat and the way god used them to tell the good news..
She lived all alone with her old cat, in a little one bedroom cottage,
she’d be seen wearing her straw hat, she was very mobile for her age…
She’d attend her christian meetings, always an encouragement to others,
welcomed new ones with friendly greetings, gave assistance to young mothers…
Sang songs of praise with gusto, she could sing high or low,
was an avid reader of the scriptures, and spoke fondly of the pictures…
Every Sunday morn she’d be there, through all kinds of weather,
for others she genuinely cared, she practiced the word to the letter,
She would go from door to door, spreading the good news of the kingdom,
some listen many would ignore, but they all respected her wisdom…
In the small village she was known, as the little old lady with the straw hat,
and to every door she’d been a goin, was followed by her old grey cat…
At the meetings it would tilt its head, it sat at the back near the door,
and when a closing prayer was said, would cover its eyes with its paw…
They both lived together alone, this had alaways been their home,
serving their god made them happy, the congregation was their family…
Then one day the old lady died, many came and cried,
the old cat sat by her head, then they laid the old lady in her narrow bed…
The following Sunday at the meeting, there was sadness and gloom all around,
for the congregation were still grieving, then they heard a purring sound…
Then all heads turned to the rear, the old cat was sitting there,
eyes just swelled with tears, tears of loss became tears of cheer…
The congregation sang out with joy, with renewed vigor and gladness,
for every man woman girl and boy, the old grey cat had brought happiness…
It still walks the streets, where its master use to trod,
people would stop and greet, acknowledging her with a nod…
The master used an old lady, if he wanted to he could make stones chat,
praise can be given by a baby, and even the conduct of an old grey cat….end
