Been feeling (and acting) a little selfish lately. After all, who’s more important than me?

Walls of comfort surround on every side.

One door for exit that locks from the inside.

Windows to look out but none you can look in.

A maid to keep everything neat as a pin.

Phone only rings when conversation is desired.

Knocks are only heard when company is required.

Meals and snacks are served at my whim.

No exercise required to keep myself slim.

A pet that adores me and doesn’t need to go out.

Someone to console me whenever I pout.

Pats on the back for accolades gained.

Never a relationship that’s broken or strained.

Wouldn’t life be boring if everything was perfect?

If only for a week, I think we’d all like to try it.

Perhaps it would get boring after a while, but I would sure love to try it!

I love this introspective piece. Yes, I’d like to try it for a week, or a month…ok, maybe a year. :]

What a nice piece to sit back and give thought to. Thinking won’t git ‘er done, though, I fear. It’s the pet wanting back in that’s annoying.

Nice poetry. Selfishness is innate. We never have to join the hypochratic oath that we are not.Even Whitney Houston sang it right. The greatest love of all.

Good writing! Christ said: “Be Perfect!” I not one to try–not when its is all a set paradox! I know it is losing while you are winning and winning while you are losing! The human condition is a fragile condition–where fortunes can be reversed in an instance–knowing this–hope is the onlysecurity. Still. I harbor like most good people–morals, ethics, and country-like values! Cool!
