Somebody had read my poem entitled “Autumn” then he asked me if I could make a poem entitled “Rainy Season”.So, this is my idea and if you’re a Filipino you can relate to this one.

Rainy days in the Philippines start in June

As the pupils begin their first day at school

They are required to bring umbrellas and coats

Fishermen stay, afraid to sail their boat

If the wind and waves are strong

Farmers shout in glee as the rain pours out

Watering their plants and crops on the farm

Animals such as carabao, cow, chicken and goat

Bustling under the Nipa house, music on the air

Manila city the capital of the country

Vehicles on the road stuck in the traffic jam

Blowing horn polluting the busy urban life

Floods are all over the place gushing like a stream

As the man in a business suit dodges the rain

The woman holding up her skirt as she walks through the flood

A chicly lady pout her lips while standing under the waiting shed

Then the bus passed by, filthy mud splashed all over her face

What an ill-fortune to her fancy make-ups and clothes

Here comes the opportunist carrying a flat elongated wood

Waiting for the shoppers to come out from the grocery store

To help them cross the dungy flood for only two pesos

What a clever idea a business indeed during the wet seasons

Laughing kids swimming on the murky flood

Floating with the waste from the clogged drainage

Oh my! You don’t want to get sick and die of leptospirosis

A student walking with poise slipped and fell on the road

What a shame, people not keeping their laughter to themselves

There are more things happening during rainy days

Funny, peevish and gay as what you have read

It’s nice to play and have fun under the rain shower

With your wacky friends and playmates out there

Or stay at home and sing “Rain Rain Go Away”

Then tear a newspaper and make a paper boat

Watch as the water current on the gutter drift it away

Have a better sleep under your soft blanket

What a wonderful rainy season we have
