A haunting poem depressing the love of darkness and the fear of the open light, see if you can find the hidden meaning.
The Pit
My darkness comes lying to me again in the light
“You promised you’d return” I say with my might
The darkness ignores me, he’ll never reply
So I sit in my pit, in the light and I cry
So you think it is easy to live in the sun
Playing games, singing songs, having nothing but fun
But when darkness comes do you not thank your god?
For the peacefulness lays you down, and you start to nod
And you fall into sleep, dreaming of days to come
But I only smile because light makes me numb
So when the dark comes I’ll be blissful and gay
Though only short hours contains me this way
For soon it will shine bright outside in the sky
And I will again, go home, and cry.
