Playing under the red slanted roof

the solitary place that holds your every wish

in complete perfection until the years slip by

ecstatic grins jumping at the window

shouting peek-a-boo

bright eyes that do not falter from contentment

circling your hiding den

laughing as you are falling down

grass staining your tight clad knees

never discouraged from your duty

my little Miss Robin Hood

trailing your fabricated forest of Sherwood

seeking refuge from the fiery sun

you always play the hero and nothing in between

brandishing your cardboard sword

striking rebellion, straight from your heart

into the love of mine

i know that you will age just fine

with the sense of wrong and right

embroidered firmly in your soul

as you leave your youth behind

i will always see you

as my little princess living out her dreams

in her long gone Wendy house

We can tell a lot about what children will be when they grow up by the things they do when they are small. This is a different sort of write from you – I like it!

It is inevitable that they will one day grow up, and all that will be left are our memories, nicely done Shadow, heartbreaking in the best possible way, great write, :)
