Can there be a force so strong…

VI
when i take deep deep breathes i never know
when the air will come out of me
into the air of the outside, reunited
with a oneness that surpasses my own humanity
all in all what i’ve gained was worth twice that of my fall
into inhumanity
is that evil, is that good?
who is the judge?
will all of my questions go unanswered?
can there be a force so strong as to push around
the deities of the universe?
where can it be found?
where can it be found?
is it in our television sets, our computers, our swollen heads?
no no no no no!
the deepest breath i can remember is always the one
that i take before i can feel this slow churning headache
come on
VII
make no mistake in the judging of your life
foresee instead of un-see and make everything last
much much longer than you expect it to
please hold on
please please please hold on
you won’t know what it is
but it will hold you as long as you
please please please hold on
IIX
is it such a task that none of our kind is up to it?
where do we start in the repairing of this world?
i will be so kind as to tell you
dear reader
that this is truly an impossible task
and how can a man live in this sad world
with the sights of violence against our own kind?
our species
a terrible imperfection on Earth’s face.
we can see
we can hear
we can smell
we can feel
we can taste
we can think
but above all, we can kill- and we choose to kill.
of the lexicon of life all about our fair home,
we are among the few species who take their own kind’s
life,
a beautiful thing, enhanced by nature, but marred by ours
IX
why are we granted life?
only to take it away?
will all of my questions go unanswered?
why are our lives so filled with strife?
are we even fit to stay?
can we escape our man-made cancer?
billions of souls
all around
falling, falling
down, down
X
the black cloud that is night
shines no stars
and men behind bars
stare out at the sight
with eyes gleaming
tempers all steaming
the man that is right
stepped into a light
and found a way
to give his life meaning
and stood there gleaning
until the coming day
and of all men’s fights
he emerged with the most might

Hiya Myles. First of all, with me, you have a fan for life. This concept is very interesting, and sure, why not, go for it. I’m sure I’ll be reading it 30 years from now. But, I have a few suggestions. No. 1. Don’t give us too much at once. Your other series is very deep, but easy to digest as it is in smaller chunks. Having five stanzas squashed together doesn’t let us, the audience, time to breath.

Second. If you are embarking on a life long poem – give yourself some rules. These don’t have to be anything that anyone else ever knows but they are for you to establish a sense of continuity. These rules could be themes, or writing styles or what ever. The astute reader may pick up on them down the road, but right now the first 10 stanzas are a bit eclectic for contiuity sake. You are a very prolific and talented writer. I would use all of your other writings to experiment with different forms and themes.

Having said that, I say go for it full steam ahead. I’m looking forward to more.
