A poem that I wrote quite a few years ago and I felt it was worth sharing with you.

I was as the dust of the earth-

clay which you designed and crafted

lovingly with your hands-

and then like a cool and gentle breeze-

you breathed your breath of life

into my being and I took my first

steps into the world.

A vessel created by you, molded-

and shaped to fit into your plan-

to be used by you to do your will

Created to bring glory and honor-

to your Holy Name, but yet still-

unfinished.

There is much work still left to do-

a chisel here and a chisel there-

for many times I fail-

and fall short of your plan.

Then I must be broken and you have-

to start again-to teach me, show me-

guiding and directing me in your ways-

perfecting me so that I can be more

and more like you.

You are always there lifting me up-

and leading me ever so carefully-

You are so very patient with your

creation-Your never ending love-

reaches out to reassure in times-

of doubt and insecurities-

always tender with your rearranging-

sculpting me into what I ought to be-

everyday your work on me continues-

so loving you are becasue

you know that one day

I will be finished.

The Potter will have completed his work

on the clay, and I will be like you.

Thou art the potter, I am the clay. You keep taking me back to that little church I grew up in.
