We both like our tomatoes, our potatoes, and our peas…

And if you don’t like the onion,
Stay away from him and me!
The preacher planted a garden,
And the onions started seeding.
It gave the preacher’s supper
Just the flavor it was needing!
So you’ve had a big church supper
With no onions in the chili?
We’d like it beter if there WAS,
Both me and Brother Tilley!
In fact, I’m watching him to see,
He won’t even take some, will he?
I told you we liked it better WITH them-
Me and Brother Tilley!
When it comes to a lot of things,
He has my full support and backing,
Like the flavour of our food,
When the onion’s sadly lacking!
Now if you’re reading this,
And you think it’s rather silly,
I didn’t start this onion thing.
Blame that on Brother Tilley!
So get the family round you,
Mom and Dad and all the younguns.
And when you feed them all their grub,
Please don’t forget the onions!
