I wrote this poem just before former president George W. Bush took his second term. An expression of how I felt at the time.
Stripped of my right to choose
Made to feel weakened
Forced to endure your painful invasion
Your hands clamped across my mouth
Silencing my cries
Ignoring my protest
Arrogantly asserting your right over my free will
Branding me the criminal as I protest against your vicitimization
Rivers of red flowing against a blue bruised spirit
The whites of my eyes widen in shock as I realize it’s about to happen again
My freedom to choose eviscerated
As you exercise your freedom to dominate.
