This poem is about facing the challenges of our addictions and how they expose themselves before the people we care about. Sometimes what’s obvious to others is oblivious to ourselves.

How does a man see
Without a means?
Does the question linger
By the act of a finger?
What tool does a magician use
To dominate and confuse?

The reality is in plain view
For those that have a clue.
Where is the mind
When desires are all we find?
When the heart is worn on it’s sleeve
Must the sword be re-sheathed?

Sometimes the most obvious
Are the ones most oblivious.
The designs we make
Shine bright for it’s own sake.

Who is to blame
For exposing our own shame?
Intimidation, aggression, reaction
Are tools that undermine one’s own satisfaction.
Give heed to simple wisdom
And you’ll end up with your freedom.
