Summer is on it’s way. There is so much to enjoy out there, and there is so much I could do on such a beautiful day.

The Promise of a Bright Summer’s Day

The promise of a bright, sunny day on the news

Brought a great smile to my face.

Why would I want to linger in my bed,

When there’s wonderful fresh air to embrace?

I could see the new blossom lighting up the trees,

And listen to seagulls over on the shore.

Or I could sit in the garden with a cup of fresh coffee,

And not worry about all the chores.

I could go onto Triond and greet old friends,

And read the great articles that they write,

Or listen to the words clamouring inside my head,

Needing a blank page on which to alight.

I could play a tune on my piano accordion,

Or go shopping and stop for some tea.

I could take my paints down to the beach

And create pictures of the sparkling blue sea.

Maybe I could take a trip to the park

And watch ducks glide gracefully over the lake

And in a nearby field see the new born lambs

Skipping friskily, though no sound do they make.

This time of year is such a spiritual time.

It lifts a many a sad heart to cheer,

And helps us forget the problems we all bear,

And raised hopes help them all disappear.

Ya, summer is GREAT. The nature looks refreshing, birds chirping among the trees, and the sun shines brightly. Summer will bring joy to all living things on Earth.

  • Karen Gross on Apr 26, 2009

Spring always makes me want to go shopping for sundresses – I’ve already bought one, and I’ve had my first iced cappacino, so it’s officially spring. The snow is almost gone here, sigh!

The picture of the lake is breathtaking! It looks like the water just melts in with the horizon.

I loved the last lines: “This time of year is such a spiritual time.

It lifts a many a sad heart to cheer,

And helps us forget the problems we all bear,

And raised hopes help them all disappear.”
