Poem of the Dragon Keeper and his promise to his love. This poem is part of the Dancer novel I am working on.
The Promised Sword
In a duel from her love
He promised her a new sword
But the duel she had to win
She wondered if he was of good word
In the duel she did win
Her freedom he then bargained
Took her to the Dragon’s court
And courted her under their eyes
For the Dragons she did dance
They loved her as their daughter
The great dragon carried her thru
The caves and out into the water
Bringing her to her wedding
Belonging now to her love
Giving him the all of her self
And four children she bore for her love
When he became the Keeper
They took her forward also
And with the sword he promised her
They cleansed her with dragons milk also
Their stood the Dragon Keeper
With new sword and dragon scales
Beside him the Dragon Dancer
Side by side before all in new scales
Happy dragons love to sing
And sang they did for this pair
And the Honor of Dragon watched
Them be taken high into the air
