Amusing poem about a raven that returns for his special date.
Once upon a dreary night,
A raven knocked at my door.
“Go away you stupid bird.
Or I’ll knock you down on the floor.”
But the raven ignored the threat.
He only wished to implore.
“Where is this ravenous beauty
That I call Lenore.”
I couldn’t form an answer
That would make any sense at all.
So I told the raven a fib,
She’s planting daisies in the hall.
The raven wasn’t satisfied.
He said that he would wait.
For you see the raven was well groomed
To go out on his fine feathered date.
Yes, Lenore was truly a beautiful bird.
She had feathers green, yellow, and red.
The master of the house told the raven.
I expect her home by 10 and in bed.
The raven agreed to the terms.
Lenore and the raven had a blast.
But the date was cut short on this dreary night
Because the raven had run out of cash.
“I’ll see you again,” said the raven.

“You are so foot loose and carefree”
Lenore promised to see the raven again.
As she screeched, “Let it be. Let it be.”
