Back to school, have we all changed so much?

I see You standing on the platform,
As I step down from the train,
It has certainly been too long my friend,
But at last I am home again.

A school reunion, will you attend,
As you stand holding her hand,
I came alone, I thought you would,
I am nervous I can’t pretend.

Your face has not changed,
Just older like me,
Does she love you like I did,
I thought we were always meant to be.

Our school has not changed,
Just fresh new paint,
To cover up all the words,
On the walls, we did taint.

You were always my friend, through teenage years,
I thought, you would always be my lover,
As I look at the classroom, just the same,
When we always sat next to each other……

Aaah Jude…this is a great poem in that it has suddenly dredged up many memories parallel to the sentiments you have expressed here…I thought she was meant for me, but little did I know that it wasn’t meant to be…she became pregnant and I bawled my eyes out in front of her when she told me that she would be leaving school because of her being pregnant…I later did a newspaper article about her mother who went for a helicopter ride on the occasion of her 80th birthday…but I digress…I voted that I like this one…some many memories come flooding back just reading this wonderful poem…thanks and take care
