A poem about being alone with one’s thoughts, while traveling the road of life.
What happens on the road
When you’re alone with your thoughts
You think of a variety of things
And you set off onto an emotional journey
That leads you back in time.
No matter how many miles you travel,
Whether it be North, South, East, or West,
The road can never take you
As far as your mind travels back in time.
So moving forward on the road
Leads you anywhere you wish
But no matter how far your memories take you,
Remember that the past is just that, the past.
The future is as bright and promising
As you move forward,
And even though you may have to proceed with caution,
The roadblocks you encounter will provide you with opportunities
To choose a different direction.
