The Road to Heaven.

Evelyn, when you walked the road to Heaven
You did not walk alone
Millions of hearts went with you
To see God’s Heavenly Home

When you reached the door to Heaven
God was there to welcome you in
He knew how much you had suffered on earth
And now you were free from sin

The many years you did suffer
Had been a long long time
You never ever did complain
You just smiled and said, “I’m Fine”

When you walked the road to Heaven
God met you at the door
He took you in to be his Angel
So you would suffer no more

Promise me, now you are in Heaven
You will guide us from above
Please tell God all about us
And ask him to send us his love.

To My Darling Evelyn
Written on behalf of all you’re Family and Friends
With lots of love
Your Loving Husband
Colin 19th October 2001

I wrote this for my darling wife Evelyn on the day she died in 2001.
I wrote my first poem about Evelyn and printed it on Route 66 paper, as she was dying I sat reading the poem and looking at the paper wondering where the road was going to. Then I realised that this could be the “Road to Heaven”
