The price he had to pay.

He stands in the golden field
A silent sentry waiting
For a power that will yield
The release of his bewitching
For a spell was cast upon him
A punishment for his misdeed
Of a horrid crime so grim
That left a man’s life to bleed
For he had fallen in love
With a raven-haired maiden
Who sang like a morning dove
But was already taken
Extreme jealously consumed him
For he had been forsaken
So he went ahead and killed him
The man who had him so beaten
Now he stands forever cursed
Evermore alone and unloved
Unable to quench his thirst
For the woman he so loved
