One of the themes that threads its way through the Bible is the blood of Christ. Without the shedding of blood there is no remision of sins. The sacrifices in the Old Testament point to the Cross of Christ. The theme, "The Blood of Christ Washes Away Sin," can be found in every book of the Bible.

The serpent shall bruise thy foot
But thou shalt bruise his head.
Thy blood’s the deadly blow
That puts death away.

Through the Bible runs a scarlet cord,
Its pages stained blood red.
I cling to that old blessed cord.
‘Tis for me that Jesus bled

He was wounded for our transgressions
He was bruised for our iniquities
The chastisement of our peace was upon Him
And by His stripes we are healed

None but blood can wash so clean
The stains of sin and guilt.
Wash me, Jesus, in Thy blood
And make me white as snow.

Through the Bible runs a scarlet cord,
Its pages stained blood red.
I cling to that old blessed cord.
‘Tis for me that Jesus bled
