This poem is talking about a lot more than what it says. Can you tell me what it’s talking about?

It’s midnight the street lights are about to go out.
My parents always told me to stay on the tip of my toes, and to aime high.
To tell you the honest truth i’m not even on the same planet as you right now.
I’m just trying to find my way home.
I’m chilling on young street while my boys are on college.
When you’re downtown you could never be too safe.
That’s why I always stay strapped.
While cutting through the alley.
I try to stay courageous.
With my head up high and a firm posture.
The further in i got the more narrow it seemed to become.
I’m not sure if im claustrophobic but, things were getting dense.
Luckily the rain started to pour it felt like i was under a water fall.
The closer i got to the ending the more things became strange.
Voices were in the midst but, I was to far to hear what was being said.
I have reached a dead end and on the other side there seemed to be voices
of someone calling out my name.
I was frightened so i had to retaliate.
After three clips i was still hearing cries.
I slowly withdrawed with a sound of relief.

The recent stabbing of a young black American who was the first of his generation to attend college has brought tears to my eyes…..killed while attending an innocent outing. There is no secret behind my words; someone retaliated.

Did that really happen? the meaning of my poem tends to be viewed in many different aspects. The real meaning of my poem is far from violence.
