A poem about a Secretary.
The Secretary
‘Laughing again!’ -that’s not the way!
You come here to work, or there’ll be no pay.
It looks like you’re working at your desk,
But you’re surfing around on the Internet.
At meetings you doze with a smile on your face,
You just nod and say yes all over the place.
One letter of yours had a howling mistake,
And a van came here with a ton of hake.
I have to ask twice when I want my mail,
As you’re putting on lipstick, or filing a nail.
When I ask for a memo, you’re drinking your tea.
We can never find you, as you’re hiding from me.
Concrete, by lorry, came here this morn,
You said to tip it on t’manager’s lawn.
When he got here later at 5-o-clock,
It had killed all his grass and set like rock!
Well we’re all sorry you’re leaving us today,
’Happy Retirement Arthur!’
