I had a brother, whom I valued most. His posture, his words, his little harmless jokes, all l we preserve in our memory. But his presence with us, we lost forever. It gave us a soothing comfort and we all still are yearning for it. He was a professor in chemistry, a resourceful researcher and scientist and an eminent teacher. His departure was so shocking for his parents and all on a sudden they felt the world around is so unfamiliar. His departure was a great loss for his students and through the research papers they publish, they still refer and remember him. The poem which I wrote is not an attempt to offer a fitting tribute to the departed personality. That is beyond my ability. A kind of hopelessness which I feel quite often is perhaps reflected in these blurred lines.
You just hang around there,
Or sit down and let a go,
Anon you stand up rousing
Oh! The shade so cool and refreshing!
When you need it most ,
Then you look up in hope
Yielding your wish at no cost,
Oh! The shade so cool and gracious !
You gather there in summer,
Listen to the cool murmur,
Leaves coming down whirling and dancing
Oh! The shade so cool and pleasant!
You fall back there in despair,
Gasping bumpy and perspire.
Bestowing instant repair,
Oh! The shade so cool you admire!
Caught in a trap and troubled ,
You surmise that soothing shade.
Instant resurgence conferred,
Oh! The shade so cool and lucid !
Your own blood and might ,
Brother and soul so cherished,
Deserted in a disheartening dash,
Oh! The shade so cool and beloved !
