A darker view of the site we all love…

We are a gluttonous people,

hungry for recognition, and

watching with greed

as a few nameless people read

the article we churned out in fifteen minutes,

hoping that this will be the one

that pays off,

the one that will satisfy our lust for views,

so that we can live as sloths

while the Internet does all our work for us.

We refresh the browser and are proud

as the views go up slowly over the course of the day,

totaling fifteen cents in the end,

less than a coin you can find on the ground.

The whole time envying those on the Hot Content list

who have somehow found the secret.

And we are angry that we are not them.

Interesting work. But I must say that while I may not be the norm, I take a great deal longer than 15 minutes to “churn out” my work here at Triond. Hard as it may be to believe, I actually but real work into both what I write and the art that I publish at Picable. Most of my projects involved several hours of work for each content item. Some of them even involve several days of research, and writing, and editing, and reading back over and over many times making sure that it is just right before I submit it. Even then occasionally errors creep in, and when I find them later, I use the fix feature and correct those errors as soon as I become aware of them. Call me a perfectionist, if you like, but that’s just the way I am, and will continue to be. The quality of my work at Triond is important to me, and that is as it should be.

Bill- thanks for the input! that is kinda the response that i wanted to invoke from this. I’ve just recently gotten more active with triond, and i’ve noticed that some of the people i’ve added as “friends” post a ridiculous amount of low quality junk on the site. This was sort of a call to see how many people out there are truly connected to their work.

Yeah, XCstallion92, I’ve noticed the same thing. I find it a bit disquieting that some people seem to think it’s just about the numbers. They put way too much importance on the quantity of their work, and not on the quality of their work. They have their priorities backwards, in my view. Don’t get me wrong, quantity is important too, but quality is more important, for genuine success.
