Wanting what you can’t have…
My thoughts are often colorblind
dark smudges of coal
but when I see you from a distance
my world is flooded with paint
You’re streaked with white beauty
Your soul even more so then your face
My hand reaches to touch your hair,
but you look past me, and don’t notice i’m there
The people around me aren’t my mirror
don’t judge me on their whims
your eyes could be my mirror
for my reflection is lost within them
Are your thoughts split, like mine?
Do you walk between darkness and light?
Would you let me stand beside you
your shadow, your glare
I may be more than what I seem
More good than sick inside
My limbs move to a wordless melody
stuck in my head when I think of you
And though you may walk away
turn and not look back
you’ve given me a part of yourself already,
do you know what I have stolen?
Smile again for me
Smile and sing my song
I can watch from a distance
watch and watch and long…
