I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in a Poetry Day at our local college and it was awesome! We got a line and then we could go anywhere from that line so here it is! It’s not too impressive, but I still like it.

The snake slides down the rough stones

Like a child running towards a playground

My knees buckle

Mouth dry

I can barely speak

I barely manage to swallow

My spit, whatever spit

I have left

As it’s cold flesh touches mine

I freeze as if I were stuck in the middle of a winter storm

It starts to creep around me

Then it wraps around my legs, slowly across my torso

And comes around my arm

I dare not move for If I do

The snake will choke me

Squeeze the life out of me

It twists around and turns to

Face me

Hissing my name

Tightening its grip

And I scream

The snake opens its mouth

Wide open

The teeth begging to impale my body

I can’t breathe

I close my eyes and

I hear a slash

A river of blood flows from the snakes body

All over me

I open my eyes to see a sword

Dipped in blood

Pointing at my neck
