The importance of plant in nature and our responsibility to take care of them.

     Listen to my slant

     I am an humble plant.

The lowest on the food chain

But I am your main artery and vein.

Through me all your nourishments flow

It is I who keep your fires aglow.

    I clean your air

I absorb your toxic gases without fear.

    I provide you with food

In spite of your gluttonous mood.

    My timber provides you shelter.

My  field is a lavish pasture

For the animals you have to slaughter.

I give you furniture-such extraneous things

And nests for those lovely creatures with wings.

   The splendor of my variety

   Fills your heart with gaity.

For all this, I have one plea:

   Please take care of me!

I really liked it! It was a clever little thing– makes you wonder what it would be like to be a plant! I like your use of rhyming in this as well.
