Reality of the world through opened eyes.
All the day and all the night
They are so tired
People everywhere
Crowding round and round
In the same, dry, dusty, deserted places
Needing a Friend to talk to
They are so alone
The urban sidewalk breaks their famished, parched spirits
Rain falls, invisible
With pressure too powerful for any force to contain
V-shaped and triangular
The spring of life bursts through the concrete
And the dust of dried bones
Spraying refreshment, rejuvenation, renewed life
Inches away from the bustling lines of blind, zombie-like human cattle
One drop of that living water would bring color into this gray matter,
Would breathe joy into that hum-drum despair
Would bring the eternal life of Jesus Christ
Open the eyes and push against the flow of the cattle-line
Into the eternal Spring
Take a deep, peaceful breath of wisdom
God’s Word quickens the Spirit
Rebirthing from above
Bathing you, smiling in the warm light of God’s Son.
Frozen feelings reconnect
Stony, calloused hearts defrost and Love again.
