A stray animal that became my best friend while still wandering free.

Though she was only a stray
Left out in the rain
I found her one day
By my door
Looking so helpless and drained.

Although frightened by people
She sensed my love for animals
She let me take her in my arms
And stroke her gently.
Then the cat realized she had nothing to fear.

I took her in
Fed her, sheltered her
And let her go when she wanted to leave
Giving her, her freedom and safety
She always returned, so I claimed her mine.

She was just a stray who owned the neighbourhood but I loved her and she loved me so I called her mine.
